Most Graduates Don’t Understand Where They Fit,
What I notice a lot is a tendancy to embelish the resume and when challenged to answer what does this mean, often the graduates stumble or struggle to explain what they have done.
One of the biggest challenges I see with young engineers is this:
You may have worked for 6 months as an intern and you don’t really know what you were working on
So when you put it in your resume make sure to explain what you have done simply
Over a few years you develop more experience and you will be able to embelish your resume correctly because you will actually understand far better how the industry works
Especially things like
Your role & responsibilities on a project , what you good at and where you need to develop
The importance of good communications on projects, especially large JV or alliances
✅ It will all just makes sense in time
Then you can focus on how to contribute properly to the companies projects
PLUS you will learn over time
👉 How to Communicate to your clients properly
👉 How to Add real value to the project and be able to deliver as promised, its really a lot of hard work
⚠️ So avoid this common Mistake Many Make
Some engineers try to jump straight to: 👉 “A Grade” companies
But without the foundation..
They then struggle, and lose confidence then they move sideways out of engineering, make excuses etc & feel embarrassed, avoid dealing with their decisions until its too late.
✅ The Smarter Approach
Start where you can:
Slowly take on more responsibility, get along better with your work colleagues
✔ Learn properly
✔ Build capability
✔ Understand the work deeply
Then you can move up the ranks in the business your in.
