⭕ A Big Week in the GAP Program – Seven (7) Engineers Interviewing!

4/7 Already interviewed. Just waiting to hear back.

This week’s been huge. We’ve got:

4 Civil Engineers, 2 GRADS , 2 EXP
1 Chemical Engineer
1 Mechanical Engineer
1 Electrical Engineer

All interviewing for roles that aren’t even advertised.
These jobs are flying under the radar. How?

Networking.

Why Networking Works (Even if It Feels Slow)

Networking can feel strange at first. You might wonder:

“How does talking to people lead to a job?”

But here’s the truth:
🔷 You start by simply getting to know people in the industry often over short catch-ups.
🔷 Over weeks and months, they get to know your personality and what you’re capable of.
🔷 You start hearing real industry conversations — scope of work, project deliverables, lead times, payment issues and you begin to feel part of the community. Confidence builds, and so does a sense of optimism

❌ That’s something online applications will never give you.

The Harsh Reality

✅ If you’ve been applying online for months and not getting interviews, something needs to change.
🤔 It’s not the market’s job to change for you.
🤔 It’s not the university’s job to call you with opportunities.
✅ It’s your job to adapt your approach the market

What My Graduates Learn

In the GAP Program, within 3–4 months, graduates:

Understand what companies actually do and what projects they deliver.

✅ Learn the difference between consulting/design work, site/installation work, client-side work, and vendor sales.

✅ I Match their personality to the right type of company and role.

Example:

🤔 Talkative, engaging personality? You might thrive in smaller EPCM firms, managing vendors and quick-turnaround projects.

🤔 Detail-focused and methodical? You may be better suited to design or QA roles on-site.

💡 Most people don’t realise they have more options than they think until someone points them out.

My Advice to You

✅ Talk to the right people in the right companies.
✅ Build friendships before chasing jobs.
✅ Follow up it’s often the difference between a missed opportunity & an offer.
✅ Rely on yourself, not online systems.

Because when you control the conversations, you control your chances.
If you’re stuck in the online application cycle, remember: It’s not the loudest opportunities that get you hired it’s the hidden ones.
