If I was completing a bachelor I would start the end of 2nd year with the intention of securing work experiences/ internships in the 3rd and 4th years
If I was studying a master’s program I would start after 6 months of a 2 year program and aim to pick up a role end of the first year and then aim to work for them again in the 2nd year and therefore gain a solid 6-8 months of work experience before graduating.
The reason you start 6 months before the end of the year is that it takes time to work out what you want to do, then you have to work out the correct companies and then you have to develop the skills to network properly
Now if were an International Graduate I would assume the following:-
There are limited graduate programs there are nowhere near enough programs for everyone
Statistically, if you are applying I would say you have a 1/125 to 1/200 chance of securing a graduate program, I am not 100% sure these odds are accurate but they definitely are not in your favour
So use your time wisely
Most of the Graduate Programs go to people with PR or Citizenship
Remind yourself you came to Australia to Study first
Graduate and apply for Visa to work for 2 years
and aim to secure PR via work in these 2 years
NOTE: The rules don’t change when you are here, so after graduating, you apply to get a Visa with working rights, now you can apply to roles but by now the graduate programs are filled.
So rely on networking
