You have two fundamental approaches to securing work
(A) Apply Online + (B) Goes to HR + (C) Onto Hiring Manger + back to (B) to organise an Interview or NOT + Interview (D) = Outcome Y or N
Unfortunately, this process, although simple, often leaves you deflated and certainly not engaged.
It does however provide people with an opportunity to apply for work that they normally would not see, including the types of companies and a lot of roles in a variety of sectors etc
Two major floors:-
1. On any day, positions will be across lots of sectors, so it makes it hard to prepare and to be authentic when talking to people
2. You have no control in this scenario, to be honest, almost ZERO, you can make the obligatory call and let people know you applied and maybe they will put you through to the hiring manager, but this rarely happens
3. You wait mostly
Now the GAP method
R+C+T+M1+M2+M3
R= Know where you want to work
C & T= Contact only those you want to work for
M = Meeting: Informal and formal must be conducted in a series, as momentum and interest builds your secure work
Sometimes this happens
R+C+T+M1 Not successful, possibly inadequate preparation
R+C+T+M1+M2 Not successful, possibly inadequate preparation, but improving
R+C+T+M1+M2 + M3 = Succes, and the best part it is in your sector of choice
Fundamental issues. Self-belief & Self-confidence increase as you network, it’s mentally healthy, and you are in control as much as you can be
We all know nothing worth doing is really easy, but that is half the fun, failure (rejection) is inevitable, but it’s fun also, moving forward daily is the key, and there are lots of turns and twists, and that is fun, but you have to see it that way, which is why a healthy positive mindset is crucial to success.
Anyone struggling can do it, but it makes you accountable for your situation & actions, and there is nowhere to hide.
