Just when you want to QUIT and give UP you often get the job
Many times I see graduates wanting to quit or they will forget to follow up at a crucial time in the JOB hunt
It can be challenging at times but the key is to keep focused, often what separates you from a role are the really simple things, such as
- Persistence
- Maintaining faith in yourself
- Truly believing that things will work out for you
- Calling people to clarify the status of the position
- If someone doesn’t message you back about a role, or it seems to have gone COLD!! simply call them to clarify the situation, do not make assumptions, you will find you will spin the lack of feedback as a negative especially if this has happened to you previously
- Follow up, follow up, the more times you do it the easier it gets, do not avoid taking action, this will not help you maintain a positive attitude
- Timing is everything in life and especially important for securing work, for example, if someone says, stay in touch, it basically means this, we are expecting to hear back about a new project in the coming weeks.
- For graduates looking for work, this means they have enough people right now to deliver their current projects, however, if they win this next project they will be looking for additional staff to deliver the project, so stay in touch, this is a more comprehensive meaning, but in Australia, we Say, Stay in Touch
- When people run JOB ADDS they allow 4-8 weeks to onboard someone from start to finish, then as the ADD is running often the clients will make adjustments to the TENDER Scope of work which now has to be redone and estimated and modified and then approved before proceeding, so this is usually the underlying reasons why people say stay in touch
- Your Role is not to try to make people hire you, this is a misunderstanding but simply do what is required or asked of you
- Finally, by doing the above actions you will feel much better mentally and when you are feeling good about yourself the magic happens
- If you have been struggling for a while, then it might be time to get assistance, reach out to me on Linkedin and we can discuss how I can help you find you something you enjoy on the GAP program
