ENGINEERING IS A PRIVILEGE
This is only my personal opinion, but working as an engineer can be a real privilege.
As your career progresses, you may have the opportunity to work for organisations such as WSP, AECOM, Aurecon, CPB Contractors, Fulton Hogan, Laing O’Rourke or Icon.
You may contribute to:
• Major infrastructure
• Mining and processing plants
• Transport and rail systems
• Water and energy projects
• Automation and control systems
• Advanced manufacturing
• Robotics and mechatronics
• Projects that affect entire communities
It may not always feel like a privilege when deadlines are tight and responsibilities are increasing.
But professional engineering work is generally well paid, safe, technically interesting and filled with long-term opportunities.
Later in your career, you may manage people, deliver major projects, work from home, travel, receive a vehicle or phone, and have far more control over how you structure your working day.
That opportunity deserves more than a few online applications.
It deserves preparation, effort and genuine participation.
You have chosen a very good profession.
Now you must give yourself a genuine chance to enter it.
