That means companies need engineers who can develop practical knowledge of:

• Instrumentation and control

However, knowing that these opportunities exist is only the beginning.
You also need to know which companies perform this work
The largest companies in town are easy to identify.
Everyone knows them, and everyone wants to work for them.
But there is an abundance of smaller automation contractors, systems integrators, electrical contractors, control-system specialists and engineering consultancies doing excellent project work.
The opportunities are there but you must learn how the industry is structured.
Your first opportunity may not come from the biggest name in the market.
However give you your first genuine exposure to PLCs, SCADA, instrumentation and commissioning.
That experience can completely change the direction of your engineering career.
