STOP WAITING FOR AN OPPORTUNITY. CREATE ONE.

One of the most important lessons I try to teach graduates is this:

A job application is not necessarily an opportunity.

You can submit 20 applications this week and speak to nobody.

But five genuine conversations with engineering managers?

Now something is happening.
One manager might say:
“Nothing at the moment.”
Another might say:
“Give me a call in a couple of months.”
Another:
“Send me your resume.”
Another:
“We’re actually starting a project soon.”
And eventually:
“Why don’t you come in and have a chat?”

That is how opportunities start.

This is particularly important if you’ve already been unemployed for six months, twelve months or longer.

You cannot change yesterday.

But you can absolutely change what you do today.

Do something every day that creates an opportunity.

Research → Learn → Email → Call → Follow up → Meet.

Don’t measure your week only by how many jobs you applied for.
Measure it by:

How many genuine engineering conversations did I create?

Because ultimately you don’t need 100 companies to employ you.

You need one.

About Us

We believe to be successful in any industry you must know exactly what you want to achieve from your career and associate with people who can help make it happen. Too much emphasis is placed on online applications, GPAs, resumes and cover letters. The truth is, by the time it’s online, it’s too late. If you take the time however to develop your professional relationships, work will follow, and it’s easy to do even for a graduate.
